People still remember fondly the times when every afternoon he would sit outside his store with Chana (Bengal gram) & Gur (Jaggery) & dole out a fistful to every kid who would pass his shop by. Apart from his kindness, his highly ethical business practices made him a revered name across the community. Such was his respect that the market later came to be known as "Tota Ram Bazaar after his shop's name.
